Day 1235 - Mists of Pandarian Day 456

I bought a whole bunch of Robert R. McCammon ebook early this week.  I never got too far into Speaks the Nightbird due to its sheer size and holding the book.  I'm giving it another shot this time around using Kindle edition.  Interesting departure from his previous novels.

I guess I'll continue to grind out the epic quest item on my main, and get the rest of my toon pass the pvp hurdle.

Day 464 - New Kindle

Amazon releases two different types of Kindle this week. I pre-ordered both as they'll serve different purpose for me. The first to arrive is the Kindle Fire, an rather stripped down 7" Android tablet with most of the Android features buried beneath Amazon's customization. I bought it to see what I can use it for. But mainly to watch videos for Amazon's streaming features.

The other Kindle I got is Kindle Touch, which will be the actual book reader that I'll be using, replacing my now renamed Kindle Keyboard. It felt heavier than the older version. A good deal of that is due to the shape of the new reader, which is smaller. By taking out the keyboard, it makes the screen is actually slightly bigger. This reader is also a bit lighter than the old one. It took me about an hour to get used to how to navigate around, and reloading all of my non-Amazon books (such as the ones from Baen) onto the device and group the way I want. The only negative I can think of right now is that the screen refresh feels a bit sluggish. I'll play around with it tomorrow again.

Day 429 - eBook

I haven't bought any physical books in a while.  Ever since I got the Kindle last year, other than comic books and manga, I've been buying all books either in Kindle or in WebScription service from Baen.  Well, this current Kindle will be replace by the two new ones Amazon is putting out next months.  I can't wait.

Day 375 - Kindle & Out of Print Books

One of the advantage of Kindle reader system is that book publisher can keep books in print indefinitely.  I'm currently re-reading Jack Vance's excellent Lyonesse Trilogy, which isn't always in print.  What joy it is to re-enjoy books that I can no longer find in library nor my pile of books.

Day 288 - Catch Up Reading

Last Friday, I noticed that the Advance Reading Copy of Larry Correia's third Monster Hunter series is available for sale.  Naturally, I hop on to WebScription webserver and duly pay for a copy of Monster Hunter Alpha.  However, before I start reading it, I went back and re-read the first two books of the series, Monster Hunter International and Monster Hunter Vendetta.  In the midst of downloading Monster Hunter Alpha, I also found a free digital copy short stories which includes the wonderful Tanya: Princess of the Elves that he was thinking of including into MHA.  However, since the vast majority of the novel took place in Upper Peninsula Michigan, tacking a short story that took place in Mississippi and Indiana really would be out of place.  As it stand, the short story really work well on its own.

Day 71 - Kindle

So the Kindle I bought on Saturday arrived yesterday.  I bought all of Charles Stross Laundry series from Amazon.  I've already bought all of those books once, I just want to have it in Kindle format as well.  Haven't got too much of a test drive other than charging it and putting the leather cover on it.
