Day 658 - More Gym

I go back on-call next week, so I'm trying to pack as much gym work as I can this week.  Yesterday I did 15 minutes of elliptical machine workout and I'm still able to pack in my morning walk in without difficulty.  I'm going to skip gym today and go back tomorrow to give my body a bit of rest.  Hopefully that will work better than last time when I over-exerted myself.

Day 657 - Buffet Aftermath

For our Memorial Day Monday, the family decided to go to a new buffet restaurant near my place of work.  The restaurant is still fairly new, thus the food is still somewhat good.  Unfortunately for me, I simply cannot help myself when it comes to this kind of restaurant.  In the future, I really should just pick the plate of food I want and just STOP eating.  As it is, I went home sick to my stomach, literally.  I didn't eat dinner.  I really got to stop doing this to myself.

Day 655 - Blood Donation

Another holiday weekend, another blood donation.  It just dawn on me that I tend to donate blood around these weekends.  For some reason, the process seems to take less time than I remember it.

Day 654 - Salt

Recently I took stock at just how much salty snacks I've been eating.  Now, the salted seaweed strip doesn't contain much calories, nor do they take up much volume.  They do contain 50mg of salt per box.  Add that to the single serve beef jerky I ate and the sodium content adds up fast.  The last 3 days I made a conscience effort of not eating them as much as possible, and realized that much of my apparent weight gain the last couple of weeks are merely water retention brought on my my salt addiction.  Well, one more thing I have to watch out for.

Day 652 - Adventure At DMV

After the fiasco where my old passport picture failed to identify me, I decided I should go ahead and get my picture identification updated.  So yesterday I made appointment to get new driver license picture taken.

I arrived promptly, and of course the helpful folks at DMV couldn't find my appointment.  I end up wasting 90 minutes of my life sitting at the rather uncomfortable DMV chairs waiting to get my pictures taken.  Government efficiency at work.

Sorry for another late post.  This one I literally have to re-do three times.

I spend the weekend playing Diablo III, finishing up my Wizard's chapter 1.  I decided to stop and go and play all of the other characters, stopping at natural stopping point, and sharing items that's good for the other characters.  This does help the speed in which the other characters were able to progress rather nicely.

Day 648 - Diablo III

Diablo III cam out on Tuesday. Technically I could've play it on Monday night, but Blizzard's authentication server was uncooperative, so I waited until Tuesday. I basically didn't read up on anything, and just go right in blind. I got a wizard up to level 11 and then decided to start over again. This gives me a chance to better plan things around. Just for the hell of it, I went and roll the rest of the class as well, and will swap around gears that's not needed. Bottom line, this game is fun. I'm sure I'll be spending a lot of time on it.

Day 646 - Back To Exercise, Again

After one day of rest, I went back on the treadmill this morning. Even now, 7 hours after the fact, my knees are still burning. I would like to go to the gym tonight, but I wonder whether my knees can hold up.

Day 645 - Over Exertion

Just yesterday I mention how I tried out a full exercise routine on the elliptical machine. Well this morning when I woke up, I knew there's no way I can actually hit the treadmill. My muscle simple haven't recovered enough for me to do the exercise. So now that I've figure out my limit, lets just tune it so this won't happen again.

Day 644 - Another Day at the Gym

Today, after my failed attempt at getting Collector Edition of Diablo III, I went to the gym to continue my exercise routine. For a change, instead of just doing quick exercise, I selected cardio exercise routine, setting my goal heart rate of 145 at 15 minutes. Even now, 3 hours after the exercise, I'm still feeling the burn in my legs. Lets hope that I've recovered enough to do my round tomorrow morning.

Day 643 - Back to the Gym

After missing the gym last week due to on-call, I'm went back to the gym today. Also, ever since I had the recurrence of knee pain and have to reduce my morning exercise down from 50 minutes to 30 minutes, I've gradually increase the speed of the walk. For a while, I was doing 15 minutes of 4.5 MPH, and increases them as much as I can handle. Today, I finally went the whole 30 minutes walking at 4.5 MPH. I'm not sure whether it's the weather or that I've gone to the next level of exercise, but I finally work up a sweat today. When I got home, I went back to the gym for another round of exercise. While I would've preferred to do the exercise at home, the gym does offer me two things not available at home. The exercise room in my house is an uninsulated shack of boards. In the winter, it's cold, in the summer time, it's highly unhealthy to be in the room, so exercise is strictly a morning deal. The gym have air condition (yes, we also don't use air condition at my house) and elliptical machine. I can do 15 minutes of elliptical machine exercise at moderate pace, and get a good work out. I'll try to do this all over again tomorrow (tomorrow is also Diablo II day).

Last week, I found out that REI can't repair the broken shoe string on my shoe.  Calling the manufacturer didn't help as they also didn't handle that.  I dug out the old receipt and on a lurch, decided to do some leg work again this week.

I went out and bought frozen lunch meals for next week, along with the Coke Zero from Costco.  After delivering them to the office, I went back to REI and actually got them to exchange my old shoe for another identical one.  I'll try to take better care of this one.

Day 638 - 21 Months Out

Sorry for yet another late post.

Today marks my 21th month since surgery.  Not too much to reports in regards to anything.  Finished the root canal procedure that was started last week.  Also while chewing gum, one of my other tooth's crown pop loose, so I also got that one glued back.  Busy week ahead still.

I know this sounds like a broken record, but I really got to get a grip on my forgetfulness.  For 2 days in a roll, I forgot to bring in the Costco salads for the week.  I ran out of actual lunch meals at work, so today I'll have to resort to take out.  I'll probably get some salad.

Day 634 - Missing Exercise in the Morning

I'm a creature of habit. One reason why I insist on setting my alarm clock to wake me up at 4:30AM in the morning is so I'll have enough time to do all of my morning routine before going to work. This includes my 30 minutes of walk on the treadmill. Today due to various factors, I didn't get that done. In the past 2 weeks, I've missed this exercise more and more, with various excuses. Day 633 - Happy Hour At Starbucks

On my Friday trip to Rose Hills, I usually swing by Noodle King to pick up take out dinner for the family and get a cup of Starbucks coffee on my way home. Since one of the item I usually order (pan fried steam bun) takes so much time to cook, I actually ordered it before I left the Rose Hills and fully expected to be able to pick it up when I get there. Since I have a little bit of time, I opted to pick up the coffee first. That was a mistake. For some reason, that particular Starbucks was having a Happy Hour special on frappuccino, and the place was way above regulated level of customer standing around. What normally takes at most 5 minutes of getting my coffee made took 30 minutes, and no, I definitely did not want a cold drink. In the end, due to this unforeseen turn of event, I end up picking up my dinner no earlier (if not later) than usual. Next time I probably need to try the Starbucks with drive through and skip all of this Happy Hour business. 116/76/54 171.2lb 86 mg/DL

Day 632 - Dental

The past couple of days I was having problem sleeping. One of my tooth has decayed to such extend that it was keeping me awake at various points in the night. I finally resolved to get this taken care of by visiting my dentist. I haven't went back to the dentist in 3 years, and the news of course isn't good. I had my root cannels to resolved it. Unfortunately for me, I now have to take vicodine to abate the pain from the procedure, and I would love not having to take this drug, but pain is rather unbearable without it. 114/100/53 171.6lb 88 mg/DL

Day 631 - Numbers

I really don't know why my weight is elevated versus a couple of weeks ago. I haven't change my diet. If anything, I'm actually eating less, with more protein and fiber in my diet. Day 630 - Return to Protein Shake

Yesterday I decided to add protein shakes into my diet. I've been aware that perhaps I'm not having enough protein in my meals, and this will help out a bit. Unfortunately in my haste, I think I overdid the whole protein powder too much and have 2 serving yesterday. I also tried to just add the powder to my morning latte the way I used to do it.
