Day 629 - Recovery Day 13

I have my second follow up with my doctor today. Structurally, he cannot see anything wrong, but really cannot explain why my vision still haven't recovered as much as expected. I'm still having issue with changing focus of my vision from near to far (and vice versa). At least the only thing I still have to put in my eyes are artificial tears whenever they're too dry. 121/71/52 172.4lb 95 mg/DL

Day 626 - Escape From Stormwind

Not that I'm actually playing the Warcraft Beta right now, but the key to doing anything remotely useful is to get away from two places: The capital city and the new starting area in the new continent.  Unfortunately for me, my wee panda monk is level 84, and I'm 2/3 way through quests there.  This means I have to go back to Stormwind to kick off the last leg of quests to level 85.  To make matter worse, the one profession that I actually bother to try to keep up with is almost un-usable due to the user interface being broke.

I have a feeling that this current round of instability is due to the 1.2 million annual pass user that got invited into beta.  This allows Blizzard a good size population to do stress test.  Unfortunately for me, this means that any kind of actual testing that I want to do is almost impossible due to the constant crash.

Day 625 - Recovery Day 9

Not exactly a good day for me.  I've noticed that my eye felt much better after a good night of sleep.  According to Fitbit, I got 2 hours of sleep this morning due to some work related issue that requires me to stay up most of the night.

I worked from home (due to some truly screwed up scheduling, I had to start my work day at 7AM this morning) today.  At least the rest of Los Angeles will not have to be subject to my driving today.

Day 624 - Recovery Day 8

Got back on the exercise routine today.  I was thinking about hitting the gym tonight, but tonight's work schedule plus tomorrow's insane schedule pretty much ruled that out.

In terms of my eyes, I've been working at office without aid of reading glasses.  I just have to push back the monitor back to where they used to be at, and I can read the writing.

Day 623 - Recovery Day 7

Physically back at work. I've mentioned that I've become much more forgetful in recent years. Well, today I not only have to drive back home to get my lunch, I've left them in the car even as I type this. I have to skip my work out this morning due to the fact that I did my workout late yesterday. When I woke up this morning, I know that those muscle is nowhere near recovered, and there's no point in over stressing them. Perhaps I'll hit the gym tonight and get some work in.

Day 622 - Recovery Day 6

I worked from home today, being that I can actually do some of these things well enough without pain. Yes, this is yet another back fill post. At least it's only one day late.

Day 5 of my recovery.  I actually walk around today without wearing sunglasses.  Albeit, I didn't go outside of the house during the day time, but still a good improvement.  The pain in my eye is being replaced by slight annoyances that I have to pay attention to every so often.  I really should ice my eyes more, but without the pain to remind me, I really got side tracked.

I spend a good chunk of Saturday and Sunday continue to level my panda monk.  She's up to level 63 and 1/3 way through the second leveling zone.  The phasing problem with quest also exist with the current build, but it isn't slowing me down that much.

Day 620 - Recovery Day 4

Much better today.  I wake up not needing the sunglasses to even turn on the lamp.  I feel well enough to do all of the back fill posts.  I'm not going anywhere today, unlike yesterday.

The past 3 days I've been off my exercise routine.  Today I went back with some tuning.  I went 5-20-5 at the pace of 4MPH-4.5MPH-4MPH.  I'm not sure whether it's because I haven't been exercising the past 3 days or the hotter weather, but I really got sweaty after the walk.  This hasn't happened in months.

Day 619 - Recovery Day 3

I have my first follow up with my doctor today.  But first, I tried out going outside driving.  Mind you, I'm still very light sensative,so I cannot function without my polarized sunglasses.  Driving is a bit more unusual in that I can judge object's distance more or less the same.  Just don't ask me to read the sign.

The doctor is happy with the rate of my healing.  However, the protective contact lenses will stay in until Monday.

I tried to hunt down some of the supplies I will be needing (messenger's bag for both my ultrabook and the new laptop, and new sweat pants).  I came up empty handed on both.  I'll have to come up with something.

Oh, today's picture from Rose Hills:

On my way home, I stopped by Noodle King to pick up dinner for the family.  Since I'm not eating in, no picture there.  But I did take this self portrait:

Day 618 - Recovery Day 2

I've been struggling with icing my eyes.  As it stands, it freezes my forehead more than my eyes, which is where it's desperately needed.  It's only towards the end of the day that I finally come up with a working solution regarding the icing.  Partially fill the bag, put some water in it to melt some of the ice and then places part of the ice on the eye, leaving the rest of the bag away from my head.  That seems a bit complicated for icing the eyes, but it works for me.

Day 617 - Eye Surgery Round 2

Today is my second go at Lasik surgery.  This time, I'm not going to take the pain medication, since I despises the side effects.  I also tried to use as little of the numbing eye-drop as possible, since they inhibits eye growth.

What I didn't remember is how much I'm tearing up.  I'm going through a lot of tissue paper.

Day 613 - Downside of Weight Loss

The pluses of my weight loss have greatly exceed the minus.  Yes, I do have to buy new clothes, but for the right reason.  However, today I'm reminded that I really should get all of my photo ID redone.

This is what I used to look like 5 years ago according to my passport.

Just before this blog posting, I take another picture of myself.

This all came about because I was trying to get some legal documents done, and they need independent affidavit that I am who I claimed to be.  My driver license picture also doesn't work either.

Day 612 - Mist of Pandarian Beta Day 14

It was raining cats and dogs outside today. Unfortunately, today is also the day I go to Rose Hills. When I got out of Costco (minus umbrella) it was raining much harder than usual. By the time I got back to the car I was soaking wet. The flower did turn out well.

I stopped by Noodle King to have lunch and pick up dinner for the rest of the household.  This is what I tried.

I only ate half of it, took the rest home for dinner.  It's interesting tasting.

In a bit I'll start my MoP grind again, but first, I head back to The Old Republic to see what they have done.  I'm pretty sure I have to drop this game soon, as I simply don't have the time to play both games.  When Diablo 3 comes out, my time will take another hit.  So many games, so little time.

Day 611 - Mist of Pandarian Beta Day 13

I manage to get about 2 hours of play time today. Breeze through the last of Hellfire zone, move onto the next zone, and then move onto to the third zone. At this rate, I highly doubt if I'll get out of Nagarand before I move onto Northrend. I will probably make a concerted effort to level my leatherworking at Nagarand before going north.

Day 610 - Mist of Pandarian Beta Day 12

Didn't have much chance to go on the Beta server today. New patch got pushed to the servers, and that didn't come up until 90 minutes ago. I did go in and noticed that they fixed quit a few things. Albeit, there does appear to be some nerf on Windwalker's chi generation. But newer visual effect was put in for monk. I'll probably get more chance at this later.

Day 609 - Mist of Pandarian Beta Day 11

Since I'm still on-call, my time grinding is short. I finally got through grinding for leatherworking in Blasted Land to ditch that zone and move fully onto Outland for my 60+ leveling. I managed to grind out one level today. Perhaps more tomorrow.

Day 608 - Mist of Pandarian Beta Day 10

I actually didn't spend any time leveling my experience. Between harvesting thick leather at Badland and Rugged Leather at Blasted Land, I didn't have time to do anything useful. By the end of the day, I still am not finished with the old world leatherworking grind. Many many more mindless kill ahead of me.

I feel a bit better regarding my shin today. I did my regular morning walk today. Perhaps I'm up for going to the gym tomorrow.

Tomorrow morning, I start my on-call week.  I'm sure it'll go better this time around.

Day 606 - Mist of Pandarian Beta Day 8

I spend the vast majority of my day leveling of all thing, cooking and leather working.  It's clearly not quit working as I have to run back and forth to zones I've already been to skinning stuff I've already done.

To make matter worse, this morning on the shopping trip to Costco, I had a major leg cramp on my right leg.  Tomorrow's exercise is more or less out of the question.

Day 605 - Mist of Pandarian Beta Day 7

New beta patch day.  Quit a few changes.  Blizzard actually fixed the first aid leveling, so I have to go back to Westfall to farm up cloth to do that.  They also added trainer for monk, which means I can actually experience dual spec.  Going from a tank role to dps role is quit surprising.

Quit a few things are still broken, including the entire Burning Steppes, which forces me to go to the other continent to continue leveling.

Blizzard invite another 250k Beta testers, and this have the effect of making the existing server extremely unstable.  By the end of the night, the constant crashes have gotten a bit better.

Day 604 - Mist of Pandarian Beta Day 6

Since Western Plagueland is utterly bugged, I hop onto Wetland and took a boat over to the other continent to continue questing there.  I was able to get 3 levels in, and now have the option of going to Eastern Plagueland to continue my usual questing lines.  I also went onto the live server to reserve a name for my panda monk when that goes live.

Day 603 - Mist of Pandarian Beta Day 5

Today is sort of house keeping day.  I went back to the live server and made a concerted effort of copying ALL of the keybind that I've used.  It is still not quite as nice as having mods to alter the look and feel of the game, but I can live with that.

Day 602 - Mist of Pandarian Beta Day 4

I finally got around to actually looking at my Protectin Paladin on the beta server today. Perhaps I should head back to the and look at theory craft there, because a whole lot of things got streamlined.  I have so much things macro that I'll have to spend some times copying them over, as well as all of the keybind combination.

I got 2 level off of my panda monk, made the long trek to Western Plagueland (the tram between Stormwind and Ironforge is broken, so I have to hoof it there).  Only to find out that the entire zone is bugged.  Well, time for alternative leveling.

Day 601 - Mist of Pandarian Beta Day 3

First thing first. I return to the gym for the first time in many many years. I frankly don't remember the last time I went there. Ok, I was there yesterday to renew the membership, but I didn't have time to do anything. Today, after work, I went there to do some exercise. Spend 10 minutes on the elliptical machine at moderate pace. 10 minutes on the bike, and did some bench press at low weight. I'm not sure how much of this will show up how I feel tomorrow. But it's a start.

I'm trying to stagger my gym exercise, so I don't go on Tuesday. Unfortunately, I honestly don't see how I can do any gym on Friday night, the day I usually go to Rose Hills. Saturday is my household chore day. So that leaves Sunday. Good thing they are open at 5AM. Perhaps I can combined some of my exercise to just gym and skip my home treadmill walk.

After my gym, I got home and had the left over soup from Sunday lunch for dinner. While eating the soup, I went about doing my panda's skinning leveling. After gaining a single level to 30, I got whisper by guild to tank some instances. We did two instances, and it was far more taxing than I realize. For starter, the mobs are all 3 levels above me. That means I missed a lot. Missing on spell casting means I don't gain the monk combo point, which makes everything much harder. The 2 dungeon crawl puts me at level 32, where I finally gets a actual spell interrupt. albeit, it does come with 30 second cooldown.

Day 2 of Mist of Pandarian.  I ran into many many more bugs.  Seeing that Westfall quest line is completely broken, on this second go round, I decided to level a tank (Brewmaster) instead.  I'm going the zone/dungeon route, thinking that I can get into dungeon a bit faster as tank.  Pandarian and monk continue to be overwhelmingly over represented.

I had to stop playing because the game is currently kind of unplayable.  All Player characters are now invisible, which makes things a wee bit hard.

I also stop by the gym today to renew my membership.  They opened at 5AM in the morning.  I'm going to see how I'm going to work this (or afternoon) into my schedule.  We'll see.
